About Emily

Before writing content for finance brands, I was working as an educator at a nonprofit. I loved the job, but the salary? Not exactly. 

I was living in a pricey area and trying to save for the future — not an easy task, but I did what I could. I dove headfirst into personal finance content and quickly learned how empowering it felt to know this stuff. And I had an ah-ha moment: 

It’s not actually that complicated. 

At least, it doesn’t have to be. So I took the steps I could to set myself up for financial success with the resources I had at the time.

Fast forward several years and many conversations convincing friends to open IRAs, I realized I had a knack for sharing personal finance content. I’m now a freelance personal finance writer because I want other people to know personal finance doesn’t have to be complicated and scary. I love working with brands and leaders in the finance industry who genuinely want the same. 


When I’m not writing, I love to be outside—hiking, swimming, or skiing. I live in northern Michigan with my husband and corgi pup, but we love traveling all over (especially to the desert and mountains). On rainy days you can find me reading a cozy mystery or cooking something with lots of garlic.
